Write the Vision

Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still the vision awaits it’s appointed time; it hastens to the end – it will not lie. if it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. Habakkuk 2v2,3

The above quote is what everybody should live by. Every idea starts with a vision, but seldom do we write them down, as a result many multimillion pound ideas fall by the wayside, because we either forget, don’t know how to carry them out or don’t believe in the idea. Writing things down will not only clarify your thoughts but some how it carves out its own path to get there, whether you know the way or someone else does. The part that stands out for me is ‘so that he may run who reads it’, God says you will run once you can see the vision, not walk, not jog, but run! Although it has an appointed time, seeing the vision is what hastens it. Wow that is a revelation even for me right now. I’ll never forget the interview I watched of JK Rowling on the Oprah Winfrey show, she said that she had the idea of a children’s book about wizards on a train. It started off as a simple idea as a book about a boy who went to a magical school, she said that all these ideas started flooding her mind as she was on the train and she then when home and she said she couldn’t stop writing. I just thought it was really interesting that the idea just came to her on a train and then it just flowed from there. I believe that when you have a good idea it will flow, (‘he who sees it will run’) you will attract people along the way who will help you or point you in the right direction and before you know it your written vision manifests before your eyes.

Writing down what you want out of life is the perfect way to achieve it. The picture above is a view of the dancing fountains in Dubai Mall. I took the picture myself but every time i look at it, it just feels so magical. Dubai is a beautiful place and the perfect example of what I’m talking about. Dubai was nothing but sand 25 years ago but Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum had a vision and he said “If you build it they will come”. If you feel that you are stagnant, (as I often feel, like a parked car while everyone is racing past me) even in the midst of failure, write down your ideas, your plans, you never know where it might take you. Where you would like to see yourself in the next 5 or 10 years? I have written many journals and I am surprised when I look back and think wow I actually achieved that!

You need a vision, so much so that is dangerous not to. In the book of Proverbs the wise man said “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29v18). You need to have goals and plans because thats what bears fruit. Your goal could be something as small as loosing weight, or as big as a business plan. If you are not in a relationship and want to be, write a list of the qualities you would like that person to have.

Remember it may ‘seem’ slow but it’s only because time just needs to catch up with your ideas!

  1. The bible also talks about expecting a reward. A reward for perseverance, obedience, enabling his will to manifest etc. Before Jesus was born he knew the reward would be salvation and that his name would be above all other names. David knew God would establish a house for him and he would raise up his offspring to succeed him. There are many more examples too. The point being you should have an idea of the end game, the goal, the prize so that you as you endeavour you will remain focused enough for things to manifest. Like in the above often we look back and realise, wow, am here, right where I wanted to be. As such aim high, when you get there continue to seek new opportunities and always remember to seek the kingdom first.

  2. Proverbs ch29 v18 that’s very powerful. Something to keep in mind as you go through your daily life. It’s so difficult when your trying to achieve your goal and you only have what you have where you are. Real life gets in the way and then…. either the dream dies or you review your goals and refresh your commitment. Simple when you put it like that!
But to know that you will perish with your dream makes you realise your path is not a choice. Just keep swimming.

  3. ‘Time just needs to catch up with your ideas’

It’s all going to happen, in fact, it’s yours already, you’re just waiting for time to catch up… Writing down your goals, is a great start to reaching them, i hear this is what many successful people do, and go over it during their routine before starting working towards reaching there goals in the morning. Keeps them focused, and in a mind set to ‘run’ to it.

An inspiring read, I might need to write a few goals tonight.
