The Truth and the Lie went for a swim. The Lie said to the Truth “Let me see how far you can swim under water”. While Truth was under water swimming, the Lie went back to shore, stole Truths clothes put them on and ran down the street. The people who saw the Lie with Truth clothes on running down the street said “That looks like the Truth”. In the meantime Truth got out of the water and saw that the Lie had taken his clothes and gave chase. The people saw Truth come down the street a little bit later and said “Here comes the naked Truth”. Truth eventually caught up with the Lie and when Truth caught up with the Lie, Truth began to undress the Lie to get his clothes back.

The above is an allegory told by Dr Ray Hagins. What is an allegory? For those who don’t know its a story in which the characters are symbols for ideas about human life. I’m now going to tell another story, well actually its a story within a story so try to keep up LOL.

This story is about the Panare Indians. The Panare Indians are a remote tribe that live in the Amazonian region of Venezuela. The Panare have kept most of their culture and tradition untainted by keeping themselves uninfluenced by the rest of the world…or so they thought.  During the 1970s the peaceful Panare tribe was visited by christian missionaries, on a mission to convert them to christianity. The Panare people who had been living off the land for thousands of years had no concept of guilt or sin, it wasn’t even in their vocabulary. This posed a problem for the missionaries as they were unable to convert them to Jesus Christ due to them not being able to understand the sin concept. If they couldn’t explain the sin concept they couldn’t introduce them to a saviour. This didn’t stop them though, they obtained permission from the catholic church to create a special Panare New Testament version of the bible. Here is what their new version read;

The Panare killed Jesus Christ, because they were wicked. Let’s kill Jesus Christ, said the Panare… They laid a cross on the ground…”  “God will burn you all… God will exterminate the Panare by throwing them on the fire… ‘Do you want to be roasted in the fire?’ asks God. ‘Do you have something to pay me with so that I won’t roast you in the fire? What is it you’re going to pay me?’”

Upon hearing this the Panare shouted “We don’t want to roast in the big fire!” The missionaries were able to persuade the Panare into believing their ancestors killed Jesus. This is a true story bro! This event can be found in the book called The missionaries: God against the Indians by Norman Lewis.

Now if they can tailor make a version of the bible for the Panare don’t you think….Oh never mind.
